All the cold blast lanterns started with expensive forged pull rings with wire staples until 1908 when this non-proprietary, bent wire ring with broad sheetmetal staple, was adopted industry-wide. We call this pull the TRUNCO because of the truncated-oval profile. Every maker had a similar version. Dietz used it only in 1908 and changed to their signature BULB profile in 1909. The others went to signature shapes in 1910, except Paulls and Prisco, who stayed with the TRUNCO, and Berger, who eliminated the ring altogether. The target bottom on this lantern started around 1904, at the earliest, and ended in 1908, returning to the plain bottom in 1909.
