Maximum Brightness?, The best for the money would probably be a Coleman pressure lamp, the model 200A single mantle lantern which still turns up on eBay frequently is my favorite for personal campsite lighting, and is still compact enough to carry with your backpack/tent/supplies. Note, bring several extra mantles as they are easily destroyed during the rigors of hiking, backpacking, climbing and vibration.
