When I release my Blizzard matrix this year, it will be in a different format than the Monarch Matrix. I plan to use pics of details with the dates brought to the detail rather than part codes brought to the date in a matrix list. I have made-up names for all the visibly distinctive parts that do not have names and are part of the dating process. Since 1900, Dietz used burners in three primary categories: The Dime, which has a wick turn disc almost the size of a dime and edge knurling similar to a dime. The Daisy, with the scalloped edges on the turn (1903-1919); and the Spiral wire turn patented in 1917 and introduced in 1920. All three categories came in different sizes and were paired with a variety of different cones. The Daisy was used with the slotted cone, hinged cone, winglock cone and rising cone arrangements during its period of use. Likewise, the Spiral burner had winglock and rising cone versions. The Daisy wheel is a visual indication I look for that tells me that a Dietz lantern is likely pre-1920; however, the first thing to look for in a pre-1920 is the inside Flag lift plate.
