Hi John, the first one is a corning railroad globe made to fit short globe lanterns like Adlake #250-#400, they have the 4 ribs top and two ribs bottom you described, the other sounds like one of the semi-fresnel globes mentioned but not pictured in Barretts' Encyclopedia of railroad lighting Vol. 1 (pages 271 and 301), or it may fit a small marine lamp like a Perko Jr. but it ought to fit the railroad lanterns just as well.
