Store vs. Pump"
I suppose that pump kerosene could be contaminated but lets put this in perspective. The substance which was sold as kerosene 50 or 100 years ago, when kerosene lighting was common, was hardly the clean product we expect to see today. The introduction of unvented kerosene heaters in the 1970s (?) heralded the widespread sale of 1K kerosene which is more like a laboratory grade reagent than a fuel. Bottom line, your lantern should be quite happy with anything currently sold as 1K kerosene. N.B. The only contamination I WOULD worry about with respect to pump kerosene is gasoline. Every so often you hear of a situation where some gasoline gets dumped into the kerosene tank (or tanker truck) and some heaters explode. Ken
