They do come out nice and clean Barry, but unless the plating was in good shape when it went in there's no way to restore it short of re-plating. probably the lighting or the flash makes it look more shiny. As a comparison, here is a photo of two of my Monarchs both dated S-8-41 also but not the streamlined version, these are new old stock from an old hardware store that was demolished, still with their original price tags marked $1.75 each and most all of the tin plate intact. I like these because they date to just prior to when Pearl Harbor was bombed on December 7th. Grandpa was so mad at the Japanese for ruining his birthday he enlisted almost immediately.
