Archer-Pancoast was long gone when this lantern was made. The Sherwood patent blow-hole was assigned to Dietz and came out in 1877. Unless the Buffalo Steam Gauge and Lantern Co. was licensed for the blow-hole, this lantern was most likely made by Dietz 1877-1881 or is an early S.G&L: 1881-1882. Too bad we can't see that Irwin burner.
