Every time I had issues with it not burning right I ran the kerosent thru "Mr. Funnel", trimmed the wick, and it started working again.
Something I noticed in this month is that I didn't have to clean the globe but once at the very end of the month. With "contaminated with water" kerosene previously I had to clean it a couple times a week.
After an entire month it started going out when the tank got about half empty and filtering the kero had no effect on it. I burned to old wick on the ground and there was no "popping" or "sizzling", which I have come to know as a characteristic of a water clogged wick.
I guess the wick, which would have had about 3-4 gallons of kerosene thru it by then, had simply got clogged up with petroleum byproducts.
A new wick and all is better.
I have come to running kerosene thru the filter all the time now prior to putting it into any lantern. Globes stay cleaner longer and wicks need less attention.
