One of the interesting things about Hams is that some of the rarest were the last ones made. Michael's large fill was made for less than three years and was joined by the really-really rare 2HB model called the "E Z E" around 1913-1914. Being extremely rare, it probably was made in 1914 only, like its counterpart the short globe Advance. The Advance was Ham's answer to the Dietz Wizard issued in 1914 with the new Rising Cone burner. Because Ham folded in 1914, the production of these improved models was few, if any. I have examined 6 of the Advance lanterns and they were all made by Dietz who continued making several of the Ham models for some years, but at least through 1917. Dietz also filled jobber orders on Ham models. The give-away on these lanterns is that they have the Ham fount modified to take the Dietz winglock cone burner, or the winglock burner for rising cone, in the case of the Advance. If anyone has an E Z E or an Advance with a Ham burner, I would really like to see it! BB
