The leaves that control the wind to some degree have fallen from the trees, and the wind has been crazy lately. National Weather Survice wind records from the local AFB showed several days of almost constant 20-30 MPH wind, with gusts to 52 MPH. The street lamp just couldn't take that.
I moved a Kirkman #2 into it's place. The street lamp location is more out in the open than where the other #2 resides, and even the #2 has gone out a couple of times in the street lamp location when the wind reached 50+ MPH. It also went out last night when a foot of snow built up on the reflector and blocked the air baffles. The first #2, in it's somewhat more protected location, keeps shrugging it all off and burning as normal.
Woody Kirkman contacted me and is sending me a redesigned street lamp top end to try out. It has air intakes that are more protected, hopefully it will make some improvement. At least the weather will give it a good shakedown test, as here it is only the first day of winter and there is 2 feet of snow out there already. So much for global warming.
Happy Holidays to all !
Rick
