I am already working on an experiment something like that.
I ordered a suitable thermometer yesterday. I am thinking that the Kirkman #2 tends to warm the font a bit, whereas the streetlamp design keeps the tank's contents at ambient temp.
Street lamps have two large hollow tubes that run up thru the tank, part of the air intake path. So not only is the outside of the very large tank exposed to air, but the inside as well. To top things off, I went with copper (no paint of course). Since Copper is an awesome thermal conductor, the Kerosene probably has no chance to warm up.
Someplace on the net I remember finding some viscosity verses temperature curves for various fuels. I will try to find them again.
I'll post my temperature findings in a week or so after the thermometer arrives.
