Been worried about you

I'm okay!

Just got power back on. Without it I have no phone or internet, so YAY! I'm back online!

It was not what they forecast at all. It was so much worse. Trees and limbs down all around the apartment, but, they didn't hit it. Big trees. Big limbs.

Something happened with the jet stream and the shear, that blew the "good" side up until it was as bad as the bad side. So the 40 to 60 mile an hour winds got to 100 plus. Me and birdies hunkered down in the bathroom.

So glad to have power back on. We are also under a boil water notice, so the birdies are definitely getting bottled water until it all clears up.

OMG seesthru. I was just reading about how badly Pensacola was hit. I'm so glad you made it through and your power's back on! I read about that poor man who was hit by a tree in Pensacola and The Rest and Relax Inn's roof being blown off. You really took a hit. 100 mile winds are nothing to mess with. If I recall correctly we got 80-90 mile winds with Isabelle in 2003 and that was horrendous. I can still "hear" the howling.

A man and his wife were pinned by a tree, and she died. SO sad.

It was NOT supposed to be this bad on this side of the storm. Some freak nature things happened and blew itup as it was coming to us, so even though it went in 2 hours east, we got mad winds too.

Whew!!!! I was keeping my fingers crossed that you and your birdies would make it through this hurricane unfazed. So glad to hear you were in a good protected spot, and now your power is back on.

They were also reporting that there were tornados spawned in this storm, I wonder if some of the damage you mention was caused by tornados, or maybe the straight-line winds that go with hurricanes?
Anyway, glad you are safe!

The ground was saturated from previous rains, so the trees toppled over pretty easily. But the one in front of my place, that snapped to pieces, that was definitely 103 mph winds.

I thought the roof was gonna come off, but I don't even see any missing shingles!

OMG. I'm so glad you and the birds are ok. I can't believe it was so bad that your thought your roof would cave in. I'm glad that the fallen trees missed your apartment.
