Thanks for asking… he still has a numb hand and he is so very angry.. I am his sounding board and it is so hard.. I understand his frustration and try to explain he needs to give it more time and keep a positive and not negative attitude.. sometimes geel like Im talking to the wall😞

Depression is common after a traumatic injury, especially one as bad as his. Often that manifests in anger.

I don't know if this is any help. But after my left hand surgery, my thumb was numb. The top part. It was that way until late June. I honestly thought it was permanent. The nerves have to have a chance to regenerate or regrow. The more severe the injury the longer it takes. The right hand, I have a numbness at the base of my thumb, which I expect will be there for a couple or three months.

Your son's numbness is going to last longer, probably. Tell him to keep track. The numbness I has shrank little by little. But it takes time. I know he wants to be 100 percent right away. But he was severely injured. I think his feeling will return, most if not all. Tell him, the itching that might happen for a while after the nerves wake up again, will almost make him wish for the numbness again.

Thank you seethru… i read most of your post to my son and he listened and i think may have him given him another prospective.. but boy oh boy he is so angry….

I hope he can pinpoint exactly why he is angry, nd work on that. I mean, if someone caused the accident and hit him, yeah, he needs to sue. Might help his anger. If he simply had an accident and this is the result, anger is normal, but will end up causing more harm than good, so he's either got to talk to a support group, or a therapist, or someone, because if he doesn't let it out safely, he's going to harm his relationships with others. I don't think he wants that. Anger and depression are normal for someone who has suffered such severe injuries.... but it doesn't mean they should hang on to that, except to use as a tool to get better.

I hope he finds a safe outlet for his anger. A way to release it and talk about it. It's not good for him or anyone around him until he does. Prayers for him and you ongoing...

Is he receiving physical therapy? Maybe that would have an added benefit of working off some adrenaline. Also, could any meds be contributing?
