They unwrapped his arm today and took out of cast to look and then recast his arm. They say he can have surgery now and are trying to schedule for Tuesday.Don,t know how that is possible as arm looks horrible to me going to question the dr tomorrow. Things just keep getting more complicated..now they are saying he doesn’t qualify for rehab therapy because he can walk..what!?..he can,t take care of himself said once medical clearance after surgery he can go home and maybe ins will cover therapy once or twice a week in home. Not understanding this yes he can walk but still can’t use hands..so how is he going to cook..open the door or do his bodily functions..I am beside myself trying to find answers and hoping can find solution.. thank you for asking will give update after surgery

OMG. Yes, let his DR know he doesn't have a caregiver at home. See if you can find a case manager in the hospital? Maybe they have a person who can set up home care for him, or yes, put him in a rehab center until he can use hi arms and hands again. Dang! What are they thinking? Ther eis no way he can be alone.

I hope and pray they can find a way to get him teh care he needs after surgery.

Good thoughts continuing and what Sees recommended (working with a hospital case manager) is the way to go.

Nancy, that's just terrible. Just because he can walk doesn't mean anything.

Most hospitals have a social workers office/liaison or a patient advocate's office/liaison who can help coordinate his healthcare after he's out of the hospital. I hope that's the case with the hospital that your son is in. Continuing prayers,

I agree, he should qualify for a lot of help. Crazy rule!
