We are still learning to navigate without Riley. I hope it will go okay for Mr Tweets. He's calling out lots. But he has times when he will sit on teh table by me, and beak grind. Last night, he discovered Solomon. He's been hanging out at the end of his cage, right next to where Solomon perches in HIS cage.
Solomon's companion is Rainbow, and given that Solomon is blind, and Tweets is an aggressive groomer ( He likes to pluck feathers when he grooms another bird), and given that he doesn't particularly care for Rainbow at the moment ( jealousy) they can't be cage mates.
But their cages butt right up against eachothers, so he can be close to the other two tiels. Even though his cage door is open, he's in there, hanging out next to them. It's hopeful. He won't feel alone.
Tweets hates hands, but he likes to groom fingernails. So he will groom my pinky nail, but fuss and nip if I move it. He will groom my face ifI let him. And he will sit on top of my head, or next to me. Right now, he's too interested in Solomon to come sit by me. Maybe in a bit.
The other birds are fine. I'm looking out for any signs of illness, but haven't seen any so far.
Thank you for all your condolences and words of comfort.

You are very welcome. How many birds do you have? This all does look hopeful for Mr. Tweets...that he is engaging with other flock members. With Bailey after he lost Snickers, he "engaged" with Snickers' cage. It was just he and I, but his wanting to go in there and hang out a bit as part of his new routine, I felt was a good thing so I let him go in there until (I guess) he got over his grief somewhat. Good thoughts...

I'm glad he has the distraction, but Solomon isn't really too happy about it. He's not sure what Tweets is doing, given that he can't see. Once he realizes Tweets isn't a danger and can't get in his cage, he should relax about it. Right now, the lights are out, and Solomon is singing up a storm. I did hear Tweets trying to sing along, but he can't keep up with Solomon's song. Solomon is the best singer.

Bailey was my best singer! I am so glad that I recorded some videos of him singing. I really love it but am just not ready to listen. The dynamic between Tweets and Solomon sound a lot like the one between Snickers and Bailey. I sometimes felt the love between them was unrequited and it hurt me to see Bailey following Snickers all around and Snickers seemingly being annoyed by him. Of course, Solomon's blindness is probably at the crux of him not being too happy with Tweets.
