They stay in the cage most of the time now. (The cage is always opened). They seem to like to play on the floor and tear up the bounty paper Dorian runs out of the cage every time I go by to get his head rubbed but he doesn't fly over to me anymore.
It is easier for me this way. I never have to catch them to get them in the cage. I did like to see them fly around and I think it's healthier for them.

My tiels stay close to or in their cages since the move. Tweets did do circles around the room. Rico Quaker took a bath, the first since moving here.
I have a ladder to the floor from their tables, and they can climb up and down, walk around on the tables, fly to me. It's not as much room as them flying around half the house loose, no. But at least right now, it's not safe for them, I've got bird-proofing to do, and they need more time to get used to sounds and sights and things here.
I hope Dorian and Max are happy little birds. Mine seem to be. I know I miss seeing mine fly around, Tweets and Rico are still great flyers... the rest of the birds have slowed down on flying a lot with age. But if Riley and RAinbow do the short flights they normally do, there's room in here for that. There is climbing and walking and exploring room, for sure. I hope, as I get money built back up, I can make play ladders and things for them to climb on, perch on, and play with.
I have to get Rainbow and bring her over to where I am. Maybe if you can do that with Dorian, he will learn to fly to you ?
I hope they keep adjusting very well. YOu're doing great with and for them!
It's been a year and a half. I guess their still scared. My apartment is tiny and I had the fire alarms go off three times. I never heard anything so loud. My fire alarms are the type that attach to the rest of the building so if someone has smoke in their apartment to goes off in my apartment to. It's a horror. The birds were horrified. I buy them a lot more shredding toys then I used to and like I said when Dorian sees me he runs to the perch attached to the outside of the cage so I can rub his head.
I love to hear everyones bird stories and get new ideasthings… ideas…never thought of putting ladder on floor..Angel loves to climb maybe I will try…

It doesn't seem like it's been a year and half. I'm glad your guys are doing okay still. That's horrid about a centralized alarm setup like that. There's got to be a better way.
