Meadow Passed away Yesterday, was gone when I woke them up. She hadn't acted sick, but did seem a bit confused the day before. She kept acting like she couldn't see the cage doorways when she'd try to enter them. She was active otherwise.
I went to get them up to let them out to play, and I thought she was asleep by her food dish, but she'd quietly passed away I guess, in her sleep. Her head was not resting on the cage floor, not dipped. She looked peaceful, and simply asleep.
She was curious, normally active, though not as active as the younger ones. She wasn't a bully, just did her thing. I know she missed Hurricane after he passed away, lots.
When Hurricane passed from testicular cancer back in March, I had done some research and found the average age for males to get that type of cancer was 10. So he was probably that age, if not older...Meaning he and Meadow were elderly birds when I got them 2 years ago. I don't know how old, the people they came from didn't know either. their former person was military, and had to deploy, so he left them the budgies, and they had cats and dogs, some the budgies didn't get to go out and play. So I got them.
Hurricane was never very active, preferring to stay in the cage and eat and chill out. Meadow ventured out more with the other two budgies. She did that up until the night she passed away. My only guess is maybe old age, a stroke, something like that is what happened. She was so beautiful, that unusual green, smooth feathers, so delicate. I'll miss her. Watching her was like watching a living meadow, with green grasses and yellow flowers.. a living flying little meadow.
Fly free little one, you're with Hurricane again..
