Re: Phoebe Update
The implants are put in with a needle. They're the size of a grain of rice. It's injected under the skin, and the vet said she had not seen many cases of a bird removing it, but she did! And without any sign of it, either, no blood or anything. She must have got it right out of the entry wound, however small, before it healed up. We only knew it was gone because we took her in, because she was building up fluid in the "coelum." (spelling?) That was related to her reproductive issues. Also, before the shot kicked in again, she passed fresh blood in her poop, necessitating another vet trip. She was fine, probably passed something from the reproductive organs, but she scared us good. she has been fine now, good check ups every month when she goes in for her next shot. Yes, I hope your baby will tolerate the implant, if that's what she eventually needs. It is much more practical. But we will do whatever needs to be done for Mae, and we're glad the shots are working. She has done well on them so far!
