Hoping you won't have much if any lost trees or damage to your property, and this storm will pass into history soon. They are telling us things should improve here after about 1PM.
I woke up about 2:30 AM to hard blowing winds and heavy rain. Decided to check our great room to see if there was any water leaking there. Looked pretty good, no water, but then I heard a slow drip start up somewhere. Found it- water dripping from the edge of a recessed ceiling light. I covered the couch under it, then put a container under the source of the drip. It stopped dripping after the rain and wind lessened, and it hasn't ( so far) started again. Tarps ( even when put on well and fastened properly) aren't perfect, and it even be that that water came in through an area where a soffit was missing, but it wasn't that much water, and I can only shiver when I think of what things would have been like with the old tarp job.
Like you, I'm always amazed that our birdies can sleep through those scary noises. I think it must be their trust in their people portion of their flock. Like my daughter used to say, they think we're the big funny looking birds, and they feel sorry for us because we only have feathers on the tops of our heads.
It'll be over soon, and there is better weather ahead. Stay safe, and sane ( I say that to myself).
Mary
