Be Grateful
That all you have to do is clean up and put away your hurricane preparations. Be grateful you didn't need them. You could have been in the eyewalls ( NE, SW) of Ian as it went over, as we were, with 155 MpH winds and blinding rain for well over 8 hours, running around trying to contain the rain as it leaked in innumerable places through the ceiling from where the shingles were torn off the roof downtown bare wood. You could have power outages and no running waterfor weeks while the power companies are doing a yeoman's job fixing and replacing downed power lines, and broken power poles. You could be having to wait in lines for hours trying to get gas, water, food. We are grateful that the damage to our house was not worse, that we were protected in a well built house, and the damage can be repaired. We are grateful that we had our preparations and supplies, and doing what we can to stretch them for as long as we may need them for the aftermath of the storm. We are in Punta Gorda.
