I brought up teacup puppies because the article that I read made it seem irresponsible to own one because of all of their suffering from various health ailments. It's the breeding practices that cause them. The article warned that if one is going to get a teacup to make sure it's from a reputable breeder even though that's no guarantee. Apparently the practice started when breeders bred the runts of a few select breeds with other runts (not from the same litter). The result was a dog small enough to fit into a purse.
