It's a good thing I have a forgiving bird ...

Everybody take a page from my book and never do this: do not cut up a plum, peel some of the skin off, throw the skin(s) away and wipe your hands on your light-colored shirt (I buy thrift store shirts to protect my clothing from little birdy presents). Wash your hands, do not use your shirt as an apron. I finished that, stretched out on the couch with Shiloh perched on my legs, watched TV and read a book. I glanced down and saw huge spots of what looked like blood. Mama instinct kicked in. I picked up Shiloh, restrained her so that I could examine her; she's kicking and thrashing and yelling at me. I didn't see any wounds so I examined her wings and they looked fine, no blood feathers, so I let her go and gave her kisses. Next I examined myself but I wasn't bleeding anywhere. I scrubbed the spots and they scrubbed out pretty good so I knew that it couldn't be blood. It took me a few minutes to figure it out. Yup, it was plum juice.
