It took me till about 1994 to get the BBC "Pogles Wood" vhs release as I didn't know it was out as info was harder to get in those pre-internet days ( came across it in the local library eventually ). In Honey Bees I love the animation , the song, & the slightly "sinister" bit where Pogle talks to Tog about money. I also love the "educational" bits of the bees/beekeeper etc ( especially the skill OP has in filming things like closeups of flowers ). Possibly its these "educational" bits which were in the 1st series of PW only, which OP isn't so keen on. I hazard this as a vague guess because the BBC insisted ( but not for series 2 ) that it have those bits. At the same time it had vetoed the witch bits which had been in "The Pogles" ( also great but not as good as PW - probably because Pippin - in his usual form - & Tog aren't in it; although they both feature in the 7 other witch stories in the Pogles annuals. ) Of the ten episodes of "PW" available so far only 2 are from series one ( I think ) ie Honey Bees & Cake Crumbs. I was fortunate to see PW as a child ( I was born in 63; so I probably even saw the very 1st broadcasts ) & it was my favourite then as now. It was shown as repeats up till about 1973 or so & it seemed to be on endlessly - which was great! As you say Bagpuss is truly wonderful also. Apparently The Seal Of Neptune / The Mermaid's Pearls from the mid-60s will be eventually released. And like yourself I'd love to see Tottie ( & Pinny's House ) - both of which I've only seen the short clips of on the "Seeing Things" CD-ROM. Great to discuss these things Dan
I got it when it was released & for many years it was the only PW episode I had.
( I love series 2 just as much of course )
And I hope you enjoy the Pingwings which I also thought was A1.
