Thanks for contacting the BBC -
I find it hard to believe a Barnaby DVD ( or even a Blu-ray! ) isn't commercially viable - given how well remembered & loved it is :
I wonder if it's really the rights issues which are the problem (despite what they told you - & I have every faith in your recounting of their reply) -
I especially say this, as back in the early 2000s I emailed the head of the 'Kult Kidz' label (which as you'll probably recall put out DVDs of stuff like Roobarb, Fingerbobs etc) & he told me he'd dearly like to put out Barnaby on DVD but it was the rights which were blocking it ( he sort of impliued he thought it would sell really well ).
He also told me ( in response to a query from me ) that he was thinking about possibly putting out the complete 1970s series of 'Larry The Lamb'- but he wasn't too sure ( & implied this WAS due to possible commercial unviability ) - & sadly a Complete Larry never materialized;
though I do still hope someone will one day release the Larrys - maybe Network given their recent release of the 1970s Rupert...
Also I see on your Youtube channel you (for a while now) have ALL the 50-odd Barnabys! ( & all with English subtitles I think ) -
That truly is amazing - Thanks!!
I haven't viewed them yet as I'm hoping to get a better internet viewing device at somepoint eg. a tablet maybe, as at the moment I only have a mobile phone & occasionally use of a knackered laptop with a pretty poor screen; so I'll wait till I can savour an at least halfway decent viewing experience!
Thanks again for all your work & efforts in making it all both viewable & intelligible to speakers of English!
