Hi Tim, glad you like the Barnaby videos with the subtitles. Although you can guess roughly whats going on without the subtitles there is some dialougue and humour that you really miss without them e.g. in 'Bear in Space' where the teacher phones up the space station to ask if they have seen a bear in space you wouldn't know how sarcastic the is the controller's reply without the subtitles!

Your're right Barnaby is one of the best animated series ever; fast action, first class musical score, vividly colouful and stylistic, continuous storylines, all very ambitious especially compared to other stop motion series of its time.

Some of the subtitles come from the fan site for Colargol called 'My Bear Friend'. For other episodes I started experimenting with Google voice translate and an ordinary desktop microphone and found that sometimes it works very well which is remarkable given the amount of background noise and music. Songs are difficult though. Most of the songs that do have subtitles are from the subtitles I downloaded.

I've put the episodes on Youtube but I won't be making any dvd's to sell. I don't know what the state of the copyright issues is, whether it will ever be broadcast on a tv network with English subtitles.

Will probably put some more of the space episodes on youtube in the next 3 or four weeks.
