Its easier than taping them from the dvds, however I should point out that they're very poorly packaged, & altho they sound ok its hard to credit that they're from the original tapes as stated - though no doubt they are; They do sound ok though ( but no better - & apparently even ordinary home pc's can work wonders on old audio these days; so its not a matter of cost as such ) 2 versions are on offer; vocal & instrumental. Also there are 1 or 2 significant omissions; namely ( the ones I spotted anyway ): The end credit music from Camberwick Brian Cant's regular opening Trumpton chat about the clock sriking the time for Trumpton etc ( the cds have other bits of dialogue so this should be there ) The Pippin Fort bugle call from Camberwick, The 6 O'clock whistle from Chigley Its only a few omissions so I'll prob tape the cds & drop these bits in from the DVDs at the appropriate places; Anyway; hope this may of been of some interest to anyone who digs the music & is thinking of getting the cds ( which come direct from the son [ John Phillips ] of the original musician [ Freddie Phillips ] )
I did a while ago :
perhaps its just that no remastering has been attempted.
I bought the vocal versions ( though I might get the other set too at some point maybe )
( which really should be included )( it does have the opening themes however. Also : I can't remember if Trumpton & Chigley have end music - if so these are probably missing too, though it definitely includes the Trumpton bandstand music which is at the end of each Trumpton; tho poss there is then more credits music after that [?] )
which should be fairly simple & a lot easier than recording all the other bits individually would have been.
