I can remember a time before Frito-Lay displaced almost all its competitors here in northern CA. When I was a kid in the 80's the best chips and other snack foods were made by smaller companies without huge franchises--companies like Laura Scudders and Granny Goose. Their chips were the best!! One day their products disappeared to be replaced by a huge selection of products made exclusively by Frito-Lay. Frito-Lay's dominance has continued and expanded ever since.

Wish there were a way to break up the monopoly and get some variety back on the shelves.
