It has just been announced in the Greek press that all five children of former King Constantine II, along with five of his grandchildren (three children of Pavlos and two of Alexia), have applied for Greek citizenship. According to Greek law, they were required to adopt a surname, something their father had avoided doing during his lifetime. While the Greeks had asked them in the past to adopt the name Glücksburg, they instead chose the surname "De Grèce" (of Greece). This mirrors the choice made by the late Prince Michael De Grèce, who had previously selected the same name. Former Queen Anne-Marie refused to apply as well stating that she was not interested in doing so.
