I have limited knowledge on the former ruling families of Germany. So I'm having difficulty with two of the sentences from the article.
While the moniker is not as common in the English-speaking world, Gustav and Carina, both 55, appear to have taken inspiration from the Prince's side of the family. His ancestor was Princess Mafalda of Savoy, who sadly had a tragic life that saw her be imprisoned and die in a Nazi concentration camp during the Second World War.
How does Prince Gustav descend from Princess Mafalada of Savoy? A quick search is not helping me. I'm sure if I looked deep I could find a common ancestor of Prince Gustav and Princess Mafalada of Savoy, but I do not see how Prince Gustav descends from Princess Mafalada. I would welcome a lesson from someone with more expertise than myself.
