Did she actually intervene with her husband, King Christian X of Denmark, to offer asylum to her Romanov uncles? If so, why did nothing come of the intervention? Why wasn't more done to get the grand dukes (Nicholas, George, and Sergei Mikhailovich) out of Russia in time, so as to be spared execution at the hands of the Bolsheviks?
I think King Christian and Queen Alexandrine pulled all the strings they could, and the Danish Minister in Petrograd, Harald Scavenius, certainly went out of his way to help and rescue Alexandrine's uncles and other Romanovs, but their situation was hopeless. It must have been a terrible time for Christian and Alexandrine, who were both closely related to the imperial family.
