Just to clarify: did he ever seek the approval of his father, King Christian IX of Denmark, for his marriage to Grand Duchess Olga Constantinovna of Russia? Regardless of whether consent was required for the union to be dynastic in Denmark? I ask because Danish titles and succession rights continued in the male line among the Greek royals until 1953.
Danish princes given permission to settle abroad do not require assent to marry and retain their Danish titles, styles, and rights. The marriage was dynastic and although the Greek Royal Family are no longer Danish dynasts they are still princes and princesses of Denmark and may transmit that title in the legitimate male line in perpetuity.
