It wasn't that his parents had anything against her personally: rather, it was that she and he were too closely related. Not only were they first cousins but also, the king and queen were first cousins. Moreover, Martha's parents were first cousins, once removed. As it was, Olaf had to fight long and hard to win them over to his bride.
Is all this true?
