I understand that Solliden Palace is the personal property of HM The King, and that it was built by his great grandmother Queen Victoria. However, I’m a little confused about inheritance of the palace. Did Queen Victoria leave it to her son King Gustav VI Adolf, and he in turn left it to the current King? More or less in the way that Balmoral Castle in the U.K. has been passed down? I’m not finding a lot of information in English on the palace. Additionally, one source is stating that the current King inherited from his mother. Lastly, is it ambiguous how it has been passed down because it is considered private property?
When Queen Victoria died in 1930, her husband, King Gustaf V, inherited Solliden. Gustaf V left it in his will to Prince Carl Gustaf (now the King), but Carl Gustaf's mother, Princess Sibylla, was given the right to dispose the palace.
