Thank you, Stig. The extra anecdotes in the first link were very interesting. Did you find any mistakes over and above Bomann-Larsen's? Are you finding time to catch up on your reading?

A new well-researched biography on King Frederik VIII (1843-1912) has now been published: "FREDY - Klemt kronprins - glemt konge" ("FREDY - Wedged crown prince - forgotten king"), written by Poul Smidt, who has had access to royal archives both in Denmark and abroad.
The publisher describes the book (500 pages) as a 'political narrative', but obviously it also contains information about Frederik's personal life - in the shadow of his father Christian IX and his celebrated sisters Dagmar and Alexandra.
This is only the second biography on Frederik VIII. The first one, written by Aage Heinberg, was published back in 1962.
