The first floor room that now is the reading room at the right back corner of the palace was as far as i know the Royal bedroom and the room that now is a serving kitchen (with the hunting scenes in a fairy tale manner) was divided up in a dressing room and bathroom and the current family dining room was also split up, making a passage to the wing and another dressing room or bathroom.
The large central room at the back of the palace on the first floor was probably the living room of Frederik and Ingrid, but im not fully sure. That is why i was trying to figure out things.
The four palaces of Amalienborg all look alike from the outside and have a few similar features inside but their lay out and decoration is very different from palace to palace.
It has taken me several years and a number of floor plans as well as footage to realise how Margrethe and Henrik used their palace.
My parents had that same book from 1953. I'll have to look for it. IIRC, some of the rooms, perhaps on second or top floor, had dropped ceilings which were taken down during the latest renovation and restored to the original high ceilings.
