: Ferdinand Anton Danneskiold-Laurvig was the
: son of Ulrik Frederik Gyldenlove, natural
: son of Denmark's Frederik III. Why did he
: not have the surname Gyldenlove?
I suppose because the name Gyldenløve was only meant for illegitimate children of the kings.
Ferdinand Anton (b. 1688) was given the name Danneskiold-Laurvig in 1695. I think his birth name was Laurvig.
: Did he spend much time in Norway?
He spent most of his time in Denmark but seems to have taken a keen interest in his Norwegian estate - see: https://tinyurl.com/ya8ahzcc
