I had left mast. many years ago with radiation. Then several years later I wanted reconstr. and my PS said because of the radiated side, my only option was a flap procedure, and I chose the tram flap. You get a tummy tuck and new breast. He did a pretty good job considering I waited a very long time before having it done. Recovery was not bad. I think they cannot do implants with radiated skin from what I understand because the skin is thinner. Years ago they did not do skin sparing mast's, but today they do them differently. Do your research, and hopefully you can then decide what is best for you. Check out the Ask the Doctor site, many questions and answers on that message board that maybe will help you, or maybe you want to ask the doctor a question. He is an experienced PS in New Orleans, and they do reconstr. alot with great results from what i've heard. Good luck.
