1965 J.K. Rowling – British author (Harry Potter books)

When the first one was the only one, Jake, my grandson, talked me into reading it. He even loaned me his copy. It was the only one I read. I took all 3 of my grandsons and granddaughter to see the first movie. I can see how it became so popular, and I know a lot of adults have read the series too.

1930 The radio mystery program, The Shadow, debuted. The show became famous for its trademark opening line: "Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? The Shadow knows..."

I have a copy of one of the episodes on cassette. I do have a cassette player in my car (one of the last cars to have a cassette and a CD player) but I don't drive around much anymore to be able to listen to it again.
