1648 The first temperance gathering in North America took place at Sillery, Québec, in a settlement for the Christianised Indians of Loretteville
I bet if they had served drinks they would have had a bigger crowd.
1938 Pilot Douglas Corrigan took off from New York for a flight to California. He landed at Dublin, Ireland, and earned the nickname "Wrong-way Corrigan".
You'd think he might have noticed the Atlantic Ocean.
