My son-in-law worked his way up in newspaper business too. He was editor of different departments and ended up editing 3 different papers at the same time. He loved the news biz. After retirement he did a newspaper for a friend who had an independent business. When he died the newspaper he'd worked at before retirement did a really nice write-up obituary with great pictures. Sounds like you enjoyed it just as he did. I'm tearing up now. You're right, the youth of today want to start at the top. They don't realize how valuable it is to start at the basic position, work hard, be promoted and learn all about the business they've elected to work in.
