About a week ago I got very sick. I fell about 8 times. The last seven it was only a few inches off the floor because I didn't have the strength to get back up. Every time, though, I hit hard in a heap. Maria couldn't get me up so with me lying on the floor, naked I might add because I was heading for the shower, she called the paramedics. They were there within minutes but by then I couldn't form complete sentences. Fever went up to 104. Everyone kind of assumed it was another heart attack or another stroke. After dozens of tests, CAT scans, MRIs, heart echoes, they finally got some tests back that gave them some answers. I had a bacterial infection in my blood and it was spreading everywhere. They were afraid it would attach itself to my heart which would almost certainly have been fatal for someone with a heart condition already. So I was confined in isolation because it was bacterial, and put on several different types of IV antibiotics around the clock. I've been on those for most of the last week. Today the blood test finally came back clear and they let me come home. I'm still on a handful of oral antibiotics for the next 2 weeks. But I'm home. Hopefully I'll be back to normal soon now.
