1903 Lou Gehrig – Baseball great known as the “Iron Horse”. He died of a degenerative disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis which is now commonly called Lou Gehrig’s Disease

I don't know if I mentioned this before, but my niece and her husband named their son Gehrig after him because they admired him so much. The are all big baseball fans and now Gehrig plays on his college team. He wants to become professional. I hope he succeeds. Lou Gehrig's story is so tragic. I hope there will be a cure someday.

Okay - I finally found the picture of her that I am also. It was taken at the community theatre that I used to frequent and sometimes performed at. She came to see a play (I wasn't in that one) and we asked to have our picture taken with her. I almost got cut out of it. I'll figure out how to post it.
