1838 John Muir - Scottish-born naturalist who is considered the father of the environmental movement.

There are lots of places, schools named for him in SoCal.

1910 Samuel Langhorne Clemens (Mark Twain), age 74

Wasn't there something about he being born and then died when Haley's Comet was seen? I tried looking for the info but couldn't find anything. Maybe it was a myth he started.
