Wasn't Gotha in the hyphenated name of the Windsor family before they changed it? They're of German descent so I wonder. Hmmmmmm:
The House of Windsor has roots in the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, which was established when Queen Victoria's husband, Prince Albert, was from Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. However, during World War I, King George V changed the name of the royal house from the German Saxe-Coburg and Gotha to the English Windsor due to anti-German sentiment.
Now I know.
1998 With the approval of Queen Elizabeth II, Britain's House of Lords agreed to end 1,000 years of male preference by giving a monarch's first-born daughter the same claim to the throne as any first-born son
Took 'em long enough.
