LA Coliseum Clash this weekend, opinion?

well, the 2022 season is kicking off with the Clash in LA (crime city) at the Coliseum this weekend. This was taken from Daytona Speed Weeks and moved to LA, 3,000 miles across the country, then they have to return to Daytona for the 1st Cup race. With costs so high, gas, parts not coming in, low budget teams struggling to get ready, YET here we are in LA with a short track built. It cost NASCAR over 1 Million to put the track in and their speeds will be lucky to reach 60 in straight away

and 20 mph in corners. will they even get out of 1-2 gear?? Going to be a crash fest and cars destroyed. NASCAR thinks this is what the "New Generation" of fans wants. What about the old loyal fans? It might be interesting but it's far from cost effective for teams or fans. What's your thoughts and opinions about this drastic Clash change?

After seeing it, it's very clear they are catering to a new generation who have NO clue or interest in NASCAR as well as every effort to get select ethnic interests in the sport. Larson was the 2021 Champion yet, their big Placard Headliner advertising for the Coliseum had pitcures of Chase Elliott, Bubba Wallace and I forgot the third one. Yes, Chase MPD so can accept that BUT Wallace an average 25th or less scoring driver is constantly put up front, "in your face" interviews, TV time, Bill Boards and I've had enough of that in your face crap. No doubt this was a "concert" with a little racing to get people in the stands. More time was spent on the concert efforts than on actual racing. Stop the actual race for a "Halftime" Concert Show? Are you serious?? Did the cars need parts replaced, drivers need a snack or diaper change? LOL

Had it been just racing then I would have a different opinion but didn't care for the format or how it was promoted. JMHO

Right on girl. You were right on everything You said, especially going the Racial route of advertising. It was laughable. Oh, BTW, You forgot to mention the ALMOST EMPTY stands. Not only was the race terrible, I need clarification on something. When did Nascar start letting the second and third place cars on a restart, decide what lane they choose and not the leader. That did happen, Didn't it, or did I fall asleep and dream it. LMAO.
I know that Kyle was leading at least twice when the yellow came out and Joey got to pick what lane he wanted to start in.
I think the whole damn thing was a fiasco, and if I was an owner, I would NEVER return to run something like that again.

I must have missed that Pappy. I know the new rules on lanes on double line restarts have been a couple years now and always the leader picked top or bottom first and the rest in line picked top or bottom in order from P1-36 or whatever. So I must have missed that time they had Lagano in 2nd pick first over KB leading. Maybe Lagano had a cleared him before the yellow was thrown? Those cautions were thrown as slow as snails. LOL

Beth, one of the last cautions was Kyle, Joey, and Larson in that order and when they reset, they asked Larson where he wanted to be, and him and Joey were on the front row and Rowdy was third.
I know they went to the two row format a fews Years back and then the rest of the field decides which lane they want the last couple of years, but that was crazy, or just maybe I am. LMAO. I was hoping someone else noticed it. Joey kept getting asked and he kept choosing the top and even "Smoke" couldn't figure out why and Kyle was the leader.

My exact feelings Beth. Gonna cost every team, big or small a race car. Told everyone years ago, that Nascar put their heads in their Asses, with no daylight too see what they were doing. Ya, that new Nascar fan, will not pay the prices that they want for tickets, food and beverage, and the gouging of the fans to stay in a hotel/motel. But then again the crowd they are wooing will probably be GIVEN everything. Who knows?? As for me, I may check it out later today and watch practice, but not really caring about the race.

Spot on Pappy. I'll watch to see who many fans are in the stands, how the practice is going and again on Sunday to give my full honest opinion....LOL It should be a blistering opinion not race...LMBO They are catering to the wrong crowd of people who have never had an interest in racing for the most part.
