Now that this Year is in the books, can someone please explain to me why Nascar had SEGMENTS in the championship races. There were NO points awarded and to me the only reason I can think of is that they wanted the top guys to not have to make too many green flag pitstops where maybe they would get caught a lap down. I can't think of any other reason. Can You??

God question Pappy. With the crashes they create it's impossible to tell If you have a tire going down you have to get to the pits, so anything can happen. So many had tires cut down by side drafting and many intentional throughout the season, IMHO. You might be onto something Pappy.
The segment points were a BIG deal throughout the season up until the final 4 then all points were washed out and started at -0- for the final race. So basically, to win the Championship you had to finish in front of the other three to win. I don't like the scoring format or the stage racing. It's destroyed more cars, put good teams out of competition. JMHO
Next year they bring in the GenX car program so here we go again. How can a single low budget team afford to be competitive? They can't, and that's why many are getting out and selling their teams/bossiness. Ganassi is a good example. My "2022" saying is: "Be Blessed each day we are given, tomorrow isn't promised" **Praying daily for all my Posse family here**
