Kyle had a right to be upset but that doesn't justify his continued anger issues. He's his own worst enemy when it comes to how race fans react to his behavior. He's a great driver but I don't like him for the way he acts. He's been NASCAR's golden boy ever since Toyota was a sponsor and JGR. Yes, many others have been just as bad, past and present and some got punished and other not so much. All depends on NASCAR which we agree drives the sinking ship! |
NASCAR was wrong. Truex had a lot of damage as well but they did repairs best they could and he finished P12. That's what I expected KB team would try to do to get a few more laps if at all possible for points. Kyle made the decision as soon as he got out of the car it was done. Maybe his was wasn't in any shape for another lap or two? Many, including myself didn't realize they didn't have back up cars now that people had been allowed back in stands and garage/pits. Under old circumstances I would have expected NASCAR to allow him to bring out a back up car as this happened because of NASCAR. The only other time NASCAR allowed a back up car to be used was during the Charlotte All-Star race when big crash before first lap was completed and Gordon's crash destroyed his car so they let him bring out a back up, also a non points race.
Yes, others have tapped the pace car in fun over the years. What Kyle did was out of anger and some damage was done to it. I get he was frustrated but he took it a bit too far. What if he had spun out the pace car and put it into the wall? That car is not equipped with safety features like their race cars. As for Montoya and the Air Dryer incident, I don't think they are in the same category. They weren't under caution but a red flag if I remember correctly and yes it was stupid but just glad no one was seriously hurt.
I know you don't like Chase and I respect your feelings. I hope Larson wins the Championship because he's a wheelman. So is Kyle B but I don't like his attitude or behavior issues, not who kids who like M&M's should look up to.
Love ya Pappy. Let's see where we go from here. Will NASCAR say or do anything to KB on the pace car issue, I doubt it. Enough damage was done by their stupid mistake to throw the green flag in the rain and wet track.
