My mom's house is now listed with a realtor

FINALLY !!! Please pray that it sells fast. The realtor says he's never seen the market this good in years. I just paid her house insurance again and the taxes were paid in July. I will be reimbursed for all the money I've put in according to the realtor but Medicaid will get the majority plus her credit card debt.. that will come out of it. I have pretty much sold most of the belongings in the house. Someone bought her remote hospital bed, refrigerator and stove, and we actually had yard sales in her city last month and I got rid of a lot of things then. All I really have left is a dinette set, a nice bedroom suite and a nice roll top desk left. Never thought we'd come to the end of the nightmare but hopefully it will be ending soon. I'm hoping I may even have a little left over but not holding my breath.

Just scrolled down and found this. You and Tom have been through so much I am happy that you are nearing the end of that episode of your lives. I hope it sells soon.

Hope that it sells really quick Gale. Patsy sold real estate for 32 years and she says that this is a sellers market. Unbelievable building going on here, with new houses being built because of lack of housing. Hope You get rid of the rest of your sale items and then, Take a break and relax.

That's what our realtor said about the market too... There were 2 calls on mom's house today but haven't heard anything else yet. I'm thinking positive thoughts...and with the Posse prayers going up I believe it will happen.

Praying it goes quickly and you get what you need out of it. know it's been difficult and a lot of stress. Looks like there may finally be light at the end of the tunnel. Hate that Medicaid is taking so much. As they say, nothing is free, they get you one way or another. I don't think they can get money from the contents of the home? May depend on state and her will. Praying you get something out of it and the States & Govt. doesn't take it all. Estates and Death benefits shouldn't be taxed period. They've already taxed it to death over the life time of the person owning things. Just wrong. Good luck.

I am allowed to sell all the contents if I want. i have sold a lot through yard sales, ads on Craig's List, etc. They do get up to 80% of the value of the appraisal of the home. After I pay lawyer's fees, court fees, pay off mom's credit cards, etc/ I will be lucky to get anything from the sale of the house. I know nothing is free and I had to get her on Medicaid since I couldn't take care of her at home but I don't want to be taken advantage of either. I want to see an itemized bill of what Medicaid paid out.
I sure hope the house sells quickly too! We were at the house today to mow the yard and Tom saw someone drive by and take the # down so I hope the interest is there and it won't take too long. It's a nice neighborhood, nice front and back yard and the house would make a nice home for someone who wants a fixer upper or a first time buyer. Lots of plusses. Keep this on your prayer list please.
