Martinsville race with Bubba's car will be the news of the day, race media will focus on his car and interviews. It's really a shame that NASCAR has gotten into this situation not knowing all the history behind this movement. It's not a good movement but so many are being used as pawns. Bubba got himself right in the middle of it and getting on CNN saying he wanted all Rebel flags banned from races he set himself up. He suffers from depression and yet he thought this would give him lots of exposure, bring in more race fans and make him a star and it's backfiring. NASCAR should have not gone there to begin with but I think a lot of pressure from sponsorship is why? Just like in the situation with Kyle Larson. NASCAR just shot itself in the foot, so did Bubba and RPM, IMHO. Now they are running a BLM black race car after the show of Bubba with his BLM t-shirt on in Atlanta and all the pre-race exposure and Bubba not having his hand over his heart in the pict. All others in background did so that says what was happening....the National Anthem was going on. |
NASCAR tried to get the interest of minorities in the sport back in the early 2000's. Bringing on NBA star partnerships, offering free tickets to minorities and it failed. I was at Charlotte when this was done and a bunch of young boys and girls took up the free ticket offer and just ran around, saying rude things to people, being disrespectful. At that point, security stood outside bathrooms for the fans. Society cannot make a person like or participate in any particular sport. Everyone has different abilities and favorite sports. NASCAR has always been a Southern sport and everyone was welcomes regardless of race or color. I keep hearing the phrase, "White Men Can't Jump", indicating their bodies are different. It's true, most white men or women can't jump like most of these professional players do. We all have family and friends of mixed heritage. We love our families. I just think that what NASCAR and Bubba have done and with him running a car "BLM" will divide their fan base that's already very low. I pray for the best for all but we are in a different world now. Loved the interview Dale, Jr did with Bubba on Dale Jr Download talking about his difficulties in acceptance in racing and life since he was bi-racial. Sadly, one bad incident by a corrupt cop has destroyed this country. I pray for peace and hope for everyone. We are all God's children.
My "2016" saying is:
"All racers, mess a lot with Lagano" What goes around comes around". Lagano
