Standing and fighting with grace and dignity in his battle with cancer, Roland Bruce Lee Jr.,57, of Fredericksburg, passed away on November 21, 2012. Services, under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home Comanche, will be held at 2:35 P.M. Sunday, November 25, 2012, with graveside services following at the Clairette Cemetery in Erath County,with Harold Roan and Harold Higginbotham officiating. There will be no family visitation.
Roland was born May 23, 1955 in Denver City, Texas, to Roland Bruce Sr. and Patsy (Meador) Lee. He attended and graduated high school in McCamey, Texas, where he discovered a love and talent for woodworking. After graduation, Roland attended Texas Tech University and what is now called Texas State University. After college, he started his 35 year career with Shell Pipeline, the last 10 of those years he was a Project Coordinator. He had planned to spend retirement in Comanche County.
In 1978, Roland got his pilot's license at Abilene Regional, and from there on pursued his love of flying, creating his aerial photography business, Flite Foto.
Roland loved Colorado and the Pacific Coast, especially the Redwoods. His second homeland was Australia and whilst there he was certified to fly in that country. Roland was an amazing person and he had knowledge in many fields, and many friends in many places.
Roland married Melodee Roan on a leap year, February 29, 2004, at Enchanted Rock on the outskirts of Fredericksburg, Texas, appropriate as their love for one another thus remained enchanted.
Roland is missed, loved and survived by his family, his wife, Melodee, mother Pat Lee, sister Donna Cage, son Roland Bruce Lee III, daughters Melissa Wilks and Amanda Watts, nephew Travis Cage, grandson Jonathen Wilks, loving aunts, uncle, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Roland Bruce Lee Sr.
